It's time to reflect!

Hi Room 32,

We are in the last week of Term 2 and I am sure we are all ready for a good holiday.

It's time to reflect on Term 2.

You do not need to write down all these questions but please use them as a guide:

1. What are you most pleased with in your learning this term? Why?

2. What have you enjoyed most in Term 2? Why?

3. What did you find difficult in Term 2? Explain.

4. What do you feel like you need more help in? Explain.

5. Tell us one or two things you would like to do in Term 3 and why.

6. We have been using a Must do/Can do list. What else would you like to add to our list? Out of the things we do, what do you enjoy most?

7. Make one personal goal for yourself (in class) for Term 3.

PE

In Room 32 we do crazy things for fitness and warm ups.

Sometimes we jump in our chairs and sometimes we do crazy animal walks.

Here's some pictures from last week.

Lattice Multiplication

In Room 32 today the Circles have been working on a new type of way to solve complex multiplication problems.

It's called Lattice Multiplication.

Here's an example of a problem we solved using the strategy.

The problem was to solve 496 x 243.

Based on the solution, the answer is 120,528.

If you want to learn more about lattice multiplication, here is an introduction lesson from Khan Academy:

Livi's Harold story

I recently read this amazing post on Livi's blog. She wrote all about our Life Education session. It was too good not too share. If you want to read more of Livi's posts, you can find her blog at room32livy.blogspot.co.nz.

What a great post! Proud teacher :)

Today was awesome!!! My class got to see Harold the giraffe for the second time this year. Who is Harold? Harold is a puppet who lives in a mobile classroom. We also found out that we need a mobile classroom as well. The mobile class room is a big truck. On the inside there is lots of boards controlled by one little I-pod, well that is what I think it is. It is really cosy inside the classroom.

Who is the teacher? The teacher is Lynn. She is really nice. She is in charge of everything inside. We also do learning inside the classroom (of course). There is one thing that I want you all to know, THINK BEFORE YOU SAY. Lynn even made up this acrostic poem thing.

T is for True.
H is for Helpful.
I is for Important.
N is for Necessary.
K is for Kind.

First when we got there we took off our shoes because Harold's carpet had been cleaned. We sat down in rows of 3 so there was still a little pathway to walk through. Next a boy in my class, Donavan got chosen to do a messy activity. None of us knew what he going to do, Lynn only said it was messy. Then Lynn came up holding a packet of toothpaste and a clip board. I had no idea of what he had to do. Finally Lynn started explain. "So" she said. "Donavan is going to splat all the toothpaste on the paper and then make a drawing out of the toothpaste." Donavan squirted on the toothpaste and started to draw a smiley face. It didn't really turn out but he did a really good job. After that Donavan had to true put the toothpaste back in the tube in its stripes. No one could do it. This was to say when you've said something you can't take it back.

We had some really long but really fun lessons learning about what choices to make and what drinks not to drink. Finally at the end we got to see Harold. We had a disco party with him and got the party lights. When ever the song said shooting stars, stars appeared on the ceiling. It was awesome. The lunch bell rang and we sadly walked out of the class and headed for lunch. We can't wait for Harold to come again!!
