Daffodil day

It was Daffodil Day on Friday and we had some visitors from the junior school come to see if we wanted to donate a gold coin and get a daffodil. Lovely to see those smiling faces. Thanks for visiting!

I can't help but smile when I give to a good cause. It looks like the students in Room 32 couldn't stop either.

Exploring in Science

Since our topic for the Term is Exploration I thought it would be great for Room 32 to investigate something of their choice in Science.

Visit this website and do one of the Year 5 lessons - E-Learning for Kids - Science

Step 1: Choose one of the lessons that you like.

Step 2: Write down at least five questions about your topic in your topic book.

Step 3: Go through the lesson and take notes along the way.

Step 4: Share what you have learned!

When you are finished, share what you have learned on your blog. Be creative in how you share it! Make sure to let us know what you have learned.

Speech Finals

Today we had the Year 5 and Year 6 Speech finals.

While Miss Cooper was sick, she made sure to come today to support both her students who were participating, Hannah and Zachary.

The speeches were great - everyone gave it their all and put in a lot of effort. Most of our Year 5 students didn't even need their cue cards which is pretty amazing.

Miss Cooper was so proud when Hannah tied for third place and Zachary not only won the Year 5 final but also came first in the overall Speech Competition.

Well done to everyone who made it to the speech finals and well done to everyone in Year 5 and 6 who have been working extremely hard on their speeches throughout this term.

Room 32, I hope you all learned something for next year!

Speeches

Last week in Room 32 we had our speeches. It was a very interesting time and I think everyone learned what it is to be nervous. We also learned that we can do anything even if we are feeling nervous.

The work we put into our speech really showed. We could see who had practised a lot, who had worked hard to memorise, and who gained audience attention.

All speeches will be put on our individual blogs very soon but for now, here are the 4 speeches that made the finals in Room 32.

Well done, everyone!  Miss Cooper is very proud.

The Year 5-6 Speech finals are this Thursday after lunch. All the best to Zachary and Hannah who will be representing Room 32.

Cyber Safety lessons with Miss Taylor

In Room 32 we have been having Cyber Safety lessons with Miss Taylor. Last week we had to do role plays about a situation where a boy had been gaming late into the night and was very tired at school. The principal finally had to have a meeting with this boy and his mum. We talked about how this meeting would go and students were given 10 minutes to plan and act it out.

Here are our videos:

Indian Garden to Table

Yesterday for Garden to Table, Room 32 was in for a special treat. We got lucky because we were in for Indian food.

We made a delicious turnip curry, some delicious radish raita, as well as our own rotis.

Here are some pictures of our fun!

It was great to see everyone enjoy this delicious meal. Some of us were very creative and made curry and raita burritos.

We also learned that we should only eat with one hand, in India we only eat with our right hand.

Good Citizens

We had our second Room 32 Citizenship Cup given out last Thursday. I was really pleased to give it to Emily as she has worked extremely hard this year and has been a good friend and role model to others. Here is her star chart that she received.

Cross Country

Today was our year 3-6 cross country and it was an amazing day with the sun shining.

I was amazed with how much effort everyone put into their run. Three laps was a very long way and you guys did it!

Some of the things we learned from today -
Don't start too fast.
Keep your pace.
Breath and keep breathing.
Don't wear leggings or track pants as it gets very hot.
Try your best.
Get yourself to that finish line.
Smile!

Well done, Room 32! Miss Cooper is now going to rest her voice for the day. Have a good rest and I will see you all tomorrow.
